Donna Staten, artist & educator

Donna Staten has spoken at numerous state, national, & online conferences including TAEA, NAEA, TASB, ECET2, The Art of Education, Education Closet, & Teaching Partners. She has been a guest blogger, a twitter chat moderator, & a podcast speaker; & has been published many times in leading art ed magazines. In 2013, she was one of 5 US teachers invited to NYC to discuss using social media in education with Melinda Gates. That led to a term on the 2014-16 Teacher Advisory Council of the Gates Foundation. In 2015, she was the first art teacher ever honored as a “20 to Watch” educator in technology by the National Assn. of School Boards at the Consortium of School Networking national conference in Atlanta. Most recently, Donna was invited to serve on the inaugural Teacher Advisory Council for National Geographic.

Donna is known among art teachers, & over 117,000 followers, for her almost 500 art ed focused boards on Pinterest. She was featured on the Pinterest blog & was named an Educational Pinfluencer by the site. She has been interviewed by many news outlets including USA Today & NBC News.

Donna has presented national workshops for Michael’s, and was the first Camp Crayola Director for Binney & Smith. She was a leader with the online student gallery Artsonia for 15 years where her school was ranked #1 in Texas 13 times and in the nation 3 times. CelebratingArt.com named her a Teacher of Distinction in 2012. She curated a large art exchange with students and professionals from Russia for four years and also was a host/curator of the prestigious International Children’s Art exhibition from Japan four times. She previously served on a Fine Arts Panel for the Texas Education Agency and is listed in Who’s Who in Education, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World.
