Emily Mitchell
Artist & Educator
Emily Mitchell has been working as an artist, educator, and illustrator for the last 15 years. She earned her BFA in drawing at UNC-Asheville. Once she graduated, she moved to TX with a happy heart and enjoys the warm days and extended season of outdoor swimming and running!
Emily Mitchell enjoys doing commissions in illustrations, murals, and pet portraits. She has illustrated 4 books in graphite and ink; all are set in the Florida Keys and written by Eric Heisner.
Emily uses traditional methods to create drawings that are both precise and whimsical. Inspired by the natural world, she finds peace in the textures, details, and traditional disciplined practices of graphite or pen and ink.
When Emily teaches, she enjoys tapping into her playful, silly side and trying new things. She is continually amazed at how much she learns in the classroom.
