Robert Giacomelli

Professionally known as “Jocko,” Robert Giacomelli is an artist, illustrator, designer, and art educator who believes strong foundational skills and imaginative play belong together. He received classical training in drawing and painting at the Golden Gate Atelier and Grand Central Academy and continued his studies in Italy. In 2025, his self-portrait received Austin Community College’s Chancellor’s Purchase Award.

Jocko’s work ranges from traditional observational drawing to colorful character design and children’s-book illustration. His experience includes teaching in public schools and leading drawing, painting, cartooning, anime, manga, and mixed-media projects for young artists at Cordovan Art School.

As a teacher, Jocko emphasizes clear demonstrations, age-appropriate instruction, and an encouraging studio environment where students can experiment while developing genuine artistic skills. He wants each student to leave class with stronger abilities, greater confidence, and the excitement of having created something distinctly their own. He is currently studying Graphic Design at Austin Community College.
