Why Art Matters Even More Than Ever in the Age of AI
For years, we have talked about the benefits of art for children: creativity, self-expression, confidence, and critical thinking. Those benefits are still important. But there may be an even more compelling reason to enroll your child in an art camp this summer.

Today’s kids live in a world where they are constantly consuming information. Streaming services recommend what to watch. Social media suggests what to like. Apps tell them what to play. Artifical intelligence can generate stories, images, and give answers to any question in seconds.
While these technologies are remarkable, they are not completely beneficial to children.
Art asks children to live in the questions. When a child sits in front of a blank canvas, there is not a designated answer. Art asks them to make decisions, take risks, change direction and discover possibilities within themselves and the media they are using. Developing this kind of skill is increasingly valuable in today’s world. Because information is so readily available, what will matter increasingly more than answers, is imagination: the ability to connect ideas, envision alternatives, and create something original.
Art provides provides a break from passive consumption. Art invites kids to become makers instead of consumers, as they practice skills that will not only provide enjoyment in the making. These skills will make a difference in their development and preparation for life.
