Maria developed an interest in art at a very young age growing up in former Spanish colony, now African nation of Equatorial Guinea. She graduated from Houston Baptist University with a Bachelors of Art after deciding to switch from business administration and then psychology to pursue a career leaning more towards the arts.
Her skills compose of a combination of self-teachings and some formal trainings in technique, leading to variations of pieces that consist of oil, ink and dry media; which have allowed her to explore her pieces with more detail and precision.
Maria’s piece, Regalo, currently at the Texas Southern University museum, and has received the privilege of being selected as the recipient of one of their awards for the 2022 Citywide African American Artists Exhibition, sponsored by the MFAH.
